Emaus Apartments

The room was clean and nice, with plenty of kitchenware, but it was quite cold even with the radiator on. We were unlucky with the toilet light, which was broken on our first night, so we had to use a phone for light. A hand towel hanger would be useful, too.

The beds were the worst part. The mattresses seemed very old, with springs that dug in and made us sink, so we slept badly and eventually took them off to sleep on the mattress base. Seeing all the grime on them and the sheets was disgusting. I doubt a public bathroom has as much bacteria. We didn’t even want to use the microwave because of how dirty it was. The place was very dirty, and they don’t make the beds or clean the room until you leave. We booked because of the good reviews, but now I wonder if they were bought. Noise from people on the stairs woke us four times the first night, and on the last day cleaners woke us at 7am while emptying the glass bins. I found that intolerable.

The neighborhood and the other guests were quiet, and the reception staff were friendly and really helpful. The city center is a bit of a walk, though public transport is close if you’d rather take it. The apartments are spacious, with a well-equipped kitchen: stove, fridge, kettle, microwave, cutlery and more. The bathroom was very clean. I’ll definitely stay here again! :)

A lovely little place to stay. Our apartment was clean and warm during a freezing January holiday. At the end of the road there are small market shops with fresh bread, cakes and lovely coffee. Taxis are the easiest way to get to the city center, and reception can order one for you. It cost 11 z, about £2.50, and was very reliable.
