Hollywood Hostel

The first time I stayed here was alright, but my second visit was nothing but problems. Breakfast was included, but the kitchen was closed for reasons no one explained, and one bathroom was out of use. All the toilets were dirty. The worst part was the bed bugs. I showed them to staff and asked for a refund before leaving, which I understand is the right thing to do in that situation. It was upsetting enough, and later they accused me of bringing them in. I never received the refund they had promised.

The location, price, service, and the option to leave luggage were definite pluses. But there were plenty of problems too: smelly clothes left by other guests in the bathroom, a clogged drain, and dirty kitchen, mattress, closet, and toilets. One receptionist asked me awkward personal questions, though it was only her first or second day on the job. Some drunk guys walked around shirtless and drank beer in the living room, acting as if they lived there. One even opened my room door and tried to come in. Neighbours in the building played very loud music late into the night, so it was hard to sleep. Please look at the pictures before booking.

At 6:30 I checked out, asked for a refund, and moved to a guesthouse with a private room for two days. People were drinking beer in the room, and the receptionist couldn’t sort out the problem right away. During the night, my terrible roommates in the six person room talked loudly until nearly 3:00 am. The police came, and then they pretended to be asleep. Maybe it was just my case, but the receptionist didn’t say anything. She was from Ukraine and perhaps didn’t speak Polish or English well. This was the worst hostel experience I’ve had, and I won’t return.

We were there in December, and the hostel itself was amazing, but finding it was difficult. The keys weren’t at the hostel. We had to walk 15 minutes to another building to get them, and no one had told us about this when we booked.
