Hostel u Kmity

The location and price are great, and the room was fine for a couple of nights. I booked a single room. The essentials were missing, though. In December, with below-freezing temperatures outside, there was no heating in the flat, which has several rooms. I got one portable heater for my room, but the bathroom, kitchen and corridors were freezing. The kitchen had equipment, but no towels were provided. I messaged to ask for towels and heating and got no reply. There was no reception, just communication through Booking, where nobody answered.

Everything is old, the mattress is bad, and towels aren't provided. There's only one toilet for the whole hostel. The pub downstairs makes it noisy, and there's not enough ventilation to keep the window closed. I don't recommend it.

The location is good, but I wouldn't stay here otherwise. There was black mould on the walls, the bathrooms were dirty, and there were very few bathrooms for so many rooms. As a solo traveller, I didn't feel safe: there were no locks or keycards for either the rooms or the front door. I never saw the owners at reception, despite it supposedly being open every day from 11-17.

The location couldn't be better, and the room itself was fine, though cramped. But there was only one bathroom for all those beds. I booked a few hours before arriving, around 4:30pm, then saw an automatic message on Booking saying same-day bookings needed special approval. That requirement isn't stated on the booking site, and the room was non-refundable, so I couldn't cancel and go elsewhere. My emails, texts and calls to the WhatsApp number on the check-in desk went unanswered. They finally replied to my Booking.com message at 1pm the next day to ask if I'd checked in. I let myself in and picked a bed. Around 8:30 that night, someone came in unsteadily and sat behind the desk, apparently high. I asked if she worked there; she said no. When I asked for the exterior door code, she asked if I'd checked in. I said no, and she grudgingly checked me in and showed me to the room where I'd already picked a bed. She assigned me a top bunk. I pointed out the bed where I'd already napped and asked to stay there, but she insisted I change beds for no reason. Nobody else showed up that evening.
