Dinner at Klezmer Hois came with warm, attentive service, and afterward there was a little live Klezmer concert right there. That gave the evening a magical feel, almost like being inside a piece of history and culture. The food was outstanding, full of flavor and tradition. I had classic gefillte fish, a delicious goose pastry, and comforting broth with mazza ball. It’s a special place, and I’d happily go back for the food, service, and atmosphere.

I came across this photo while scrolling through my pictures and remembered the restaurant I visited two years ago. I’m not sure whether the hotel is any good, and I’d forgotten they had one. The restaurant, though, was excellent: comfortable atmosphere, great service, and really interesting Jewish dishes. I ordered a lamb tight with a side whose name I can’t remember, but I still remember how delicious it was. I’d definitely recommend the restaurant if you’re travelling in Krakow. The neighbourhood is interesting too, with plenty to see.

The rooms match the style of the place, so don’t expect much modernity, but the bed was comfortable. The staff were very kind and accommodating with all my requests. I was at a swing dance festival that ran late for four nights in a row. The food was good, and breakfast deserves five stars, though there aren’t many sweet options. I also had dinner with the klezmer trio playing. The atmosphere at Klezmer Hois alone makes the stay worthwhile. Everything was as expected and then some. Recommended!

I only went to the restaurant, and it was an excellent experience. The live music was great. One thing to know: in Polish restaurants like this, you order your side dishes separately.

Dinner came with a trio playing violin, bass, and accordion in 15-minute intervals, coming and going. There’s an extra charge for the music. It added to the atmosphere, though I didn’t think it was worth the price. After seeing Fado in Lisbon and Flamenco in Barcelona, I found this a little underwhelming. Still, we’d eat here again. For food, the goose pipkes were delicious and full of flavour, and the goulash was very good. The innkeepers soup was one to leave, while the potato pie was okay but a bit boring next to the goose and goulash. The servers were excellent and moved deftly through the close quarters. We sat in the larger dining room, which fits about 80 people close together. This old publishing house, hotel, and restaurant is in the heart of the Jewish Quarter and serves authentic Jewish cuisine. Walking in feels like entering someone’s home, with rooms off the main hallway and bookshelves and books all around.
