RPG Hostel

This is my father's review, since I booked the hostel for him. He had a terrible stay. The first problem was getting settled: nobody was there to receive him, and there was no on-site information about what to do. The receptionist worked remotely. He had to use WhatsApp to reach her, and after one reply saying she worked from home and questions should be sent by text, she never answered any more of his questions. Other arriving guests were just as lost and didn't know how to get the door or WiFi passcodes. Nobody from the hostel showed up during his three days there. The room was awful at night. Other guests drank in there past midnight without regard for privacy or sleeping hours, and one night two of them got into a fight. The next night, a guest's friend who wasn't staying there was allowed to stay because they were too drunk to stand. In the middle of the night, that person urinated from the top bunk onto the floor. The room smelled disgusting for the rest of the night. At least the guest cleaned it in the morning, before anyone got out of bed, but the whole thing was horrible and uncomfortable. The shared spaces weren't looked after either. Toilet paper wasn't replaced once, and the kitchen always had dirty dishes. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

For $13, I thought this was a fantastic stay, though there were things I'd expect to be better if I paid more. I was there two nights and didn't see a worker until the afternoon I was leaving to get my luggage. They were reasonably quick to respond on WhatsApp most of the time when I needed something. The beds were clean and good, though the climb to the top bunk felt shaky even if it was stable. The giant pillows are common around here, but they're not for me. The room was stuffy on the first night, and night tourists made the street very loud. A bed fan would've helped. It was a little quieter the second night, and luckily it cooled off some. Some upkeep seemed to get skipped for a day. By night two, the soap dispensers were empty and the garbage smell was getting bad, with flies around. It had been cleaned by the time I left. Security felt iffy. There are cameras and it could be pretty secure, but the first night someone had left both the front entrance and our room door open. When I went out, I found the outside door ajar, so anyone could've walked in. The other guests did a better job the second night. It wasn't a very social hostel during my short stay. Nobody seemed to be trying to bring people together. For what I paid, it was better than I expected, but I'd like to see some of these issues fixed.

I wouldn't recommend staying here. People from the street know the door and room codes, and with nobody managing who comes or goes, they can get in, check for empty beds and sleep in the rooms. I'd rather pay a little more and be able to sleep peacefully.

The whole bunk wobbled whenever anyone moved. There's no lockers anywhere in the hostel, and the bathrooms are shared by all genders. The bathroom doors wouldn't close because the wood had swollen. Service was poor too, the receptionist just talked on the phone. But honestly, at this price, I guess that's what you get.
