The sofa bed downstairs had bedbugs, and they bit every one of us. The beds squeak, sit on casters, and slide sideways while you’re sleeping. The sound carries terribly, so you can hear the neighbors’ children crying and going up and down the stairs, almost as if you’re talking through the wall. The kitchen is so dark without a light that you can barely see anything.

There’s a pub nearby that plays loud music late into the evening, and it kept the kids awake. The walls carry sound badly, so you can hear the neighbors and what they’re doing at all hours. The owners brush off guests’ concerns too. We definitely can’t recommend it.

Hot water only lasted about half an hour in the morning, and the electricity was poor. The next morning the power went out when our neighbor in the adjoining semi-detached house turned on an iron while our dishwasher was running. The accommodation was dingy, and the beds had casters. A friend also found bedbugs on the downstairs couch. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The one nice thing was how beautifully furnished the cottage was. But the listing doesn’t say it’s a semi-detached house, and the soundproofing is awful. We could hear every footstep and the children crying late into the night, as if the neighbors were staying with us. The beds were really uncomfortable too. We won’t be back.
