Hotel Willowa

The real surprise was Botanico, the restaurant downstairs. We ate incredibly well there, better than at most places we've tried. The room was quiet, the bed was very comfortable, and the staff were warm and attentive. We'd only meant to stay one night, but after that first night we added three more days. I'd give the rooms four stars because they could use a little refreshing, though it was a minor thing.

I had a five-day booking with breakfast, but breakfast was delivered to the neighboring rooms instead of mine. They said they'd refund the money, then surprised me with breakfast on the last day. The room wasn't cleaned either. I hadn't put out the sign, but how was I supposed to put it out? They eventually gave me one, and it hung on the door for two days. On the third day I took it down, and the room still wasn't cleaned.

The restaurant inside the hotel is really good and worth trying. The place itself is decent value for travelers, though I wouldn't assume locals would see it the same way. Staff are friendly, the location is quiet but far from the center, and the bed is comfortably ordinary with an en suite shower. They seem to clean well, except under the furniture. Breakfast is optional, but it arrives very early, between 6 and 7:30 am, so it can be cold by then.

The lobby was tiny, with nowhere to sit, though the staff were friendly when I arrived. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere, and my stay at Hotel Willowa was uncomfortable and unenjoyable. My room wasn't spacious, wasn't very clean, and had an old-fashioned design. The bed was hard, and the plain white sheets didn't help me sleep. There was no minibar, but the Wi-Fi worked well. Staff, from reception to housekeeping, showed little professionalism or attention throughout my visit. My needs weren't handled promptly or efficiently, and my requests and questions weren't taken care of.
