Hotel Wysoka Brama

Being close to the Old Town was the only redeeming part. The room was dirty and unhygienic, with stained bedding, damaged furniture and unwashed glasses. The ground floor corridor had an awful, very unprofessional smell, like something from the communist-era PRL. I returned the keys right away and asked for my money back, but the receptionist refused because the toilet had been used. Paying 500 PLN for a room in that state and then being denied a refund felt completely unreasonable. I booked Wysoka Brama with payment on arrival. While I was flying, the hotel sent a cancellation notice, which I couldn't read in the air or after landing because I had no internet. When I got there, reception smelled of cigarette smoke. They told me my booking was cancelled, then immediately offered the same room for more money. Tired and arriving late at night, I accepted. It should have cost 348 PLN for 2 nights, but I was charged 500 PLN. The location doesn't make up for the poor standards and service. I can't recommend this hotel.

The location is great, right at the start of the old town and only minutes from the train station. For 60 PLN, I had a private room with an en suite sink. The basic rooms share a bathroom, but it's still great value.

It's a cheap place in the city's lovely old town. A nice area to walk around, with some amazing restaurants to enjoy.

The price was fairly good, but the room was really small and hot. With no ventilation, it was hard to spend time in there.
