Villa Alexandra

We stayed for Euroweek, May 12th to 16th, and were very happy with it. The guesthouse is right beside Spa Park, and the facilities were excellent. Meals were delicious and varied, with vegetarian food handled easily. There was coffee, tea, and compote available all day, plus snacks and cake between meals. Our room and bathroom were warm, clean, and well kept. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the workshops were organized really well. They could also transport participants from the train station, which was handy. The students came back delighted and are already talking about another trip next year.

We got back yesterday, and I highly recommend the resort for camping. There's a big range of attractions and restaurants in Polanica-Zdrój, with grocery stores nearby too. The resort is tucked into the forest, with plenty of hiking trails, and when it snows the area looks beautiful. Streets are quiet with little traffic. The staff are very friendly, the food is really good, and the rooms are clean and well maintained. The setting is lovely, and the parking lot behind the resort can fit a coach and several cars.

The tea was good, but there wasn't much else to like. The bathroom was awkward: a wall over the tub meant I had to lean at an angle to wash, and the water stayed cold. The food was mediocre. The chicken tasted awful, and for the next three days the meat dishes seemed to be made from its leftovers, with a buckwheat-like texture. The bedding smelled stale, and lots of rooms had no trash can. You could hear every step from upstairs echo through the hotel. On the second floor, the carpet was buckled and people kept tripping over it.

The location was decent, with a supermarket not far away. The room, though, was a disaster: sloped ceiling over the bathtub, dust everywhere, and sheets that hadn't been washed. I don't even want to get into the food, but I have to. The chicken from day one seemed to turn up in every dish afterwards, and it made us sick.
