Villa Gersona

For the price I wasn't expecting much, and I still count the stay as a success, though a few things need fixing. The location is a big plus, just a few minutes from the market square. My room itself was adequate, but despite confirming my arrival time, no one was there. The owner kept delaying me, then said staff should be on site. After ringing the bell for about ten minutes, I finally got in. The spa area was closed for renovations. Breakfast tasted good, but there wasn't enough food for how many guests were staying, especially the hot dishes, which ran out quickly. The lack of curtains was ridiculous, since another building is practically next door. Parking is tricky: there's a tiny lot, so usually you have to look for a space on nearby streets. The walls and doors block no sound at all, and you can hear everything as if you were right there. That got annoying at times.

The photos made the room look better than it was, and the TV was basically unusable: the signal kept cutting out, the picture stuttered, and only two channels came in properly. Hot water wasn't reliable either, so we had to check before bathing. We paid 12 złoty for breakfast, but the food put out at 8:30 disappeared straight away, even though breakfast ran until 10. It was poor overall. There was meant to be a kettle in the room, but the only one was out in the hallway.

The spa area is close by, about 400 meters on foot, which is the main advantage. The internet was poor and didn't even reach our room, just 5 meters away. Breakfast was disappointing: powdered scrambled eggs with no seasoning, and a mix of ingredients from previous days, including mushrooms and sausages. There was only one kind of bread, no coffee machine, and just cold milk for cereal, which we had to ask them to refill. For drinks, there was ready-made tea and/or mint. The rooms had TVs, but no signal, even during the Euro 2020 football tournament. The bathroom needed renovation, and hot water was often missing unless someone came to fix something, though the problem varied. There was only one kettle for the whole place, and it was broken, switching itself off, so you had to keep an eye on it. No kettle in the rooms. The only bedside-table item was a toothpick. The lack of a guest kitchen surprised even people from faraway Italy. The refrigerators were only in the hallway, set to the highest temperature, and barely cooled anything. The light sensors were placed so they didn't come on until you had already walked through the door.

It depends what you're looking for. If you expect every comfort, this probably isn't for you. But if you just need somewhere to sleep, with coffee and breakfast, I'd recommend it. Breakfast was good for me, and coffee and tea are free in the hallway. Wi-Fi is available, and you're near the center, with Intermarché and Orlen Biedronka right outside. A 2+2 room feels a bit cramped, and the conditions vary by room. The shower was my only real downside. The parking lot is small, so sometimes you end up parking on the road when it's full, but that wasn't a problem for me.
