Gościniec Ryński Młyn

The food was pretty horrible. Potato pancakes were the only good thing. The fish was dry with a funky taste, and the sides seemed really old or were too sweet or salty. The potato cakes were suuuper salty, and the meat tasted funky too.

We stopped for lunch after the season, and the place still had a fair number of people. The food was good. The żurek was such a huge bowl it was almost a meal by itself. I also ordered Ryskie Kartacze, but couldn’t finish the main. It came with a variety of salads on the side. All in all, a good experience.

Great location and service, but the food was really average. The cabbage was tasty, while my pork chop was dry and its coating too soft. The pork knuckle lacked flavor, as if it had been boiled in water instead of cooked in its own juices. It was baked afterward, but still hard and dry at the edges, without much crispness. The kids’ menu was uninspiring too, just fish fingers, chicken broth, or deep fried chicken, like at so many other restaurants. Please offer some good dumplings for kids, and maybe something that isn’t deep fried.

The lake view is good, and there were two music venues nearby with great beats and live music. The restaurant is right by the water below a parking area, close to Ryn marina, while the hotel and castle are about 100m uphill. The outdoor seating area is big, with a playground beside it where kids played before and after meals, giving parents a chance to relax. Service was friendly and fast, the food was good, and the portions were surprisingly large, so come hungry. The bill was very reasonable. The card machine didn’t have a tip option, so bring cash if you want to leave one. Highly recommended.
