Mercure Szklarska Poreba

The hotel's location was a plus, very close to the cable, and the staff were nice. We also liked the room equipment, generous breakfast, and garage parking. The wellness area let us down: it was small for the number of guests, the hot tub was dirty and smelled, and the saunas and pool were crowded. Breakfast was packed in the restaurant too, so we had to wait a while for a table.

The kids loved this lovely hotel, especially the pool party, and the food was excellent. A few details let it down for me. At dinner, even with only 6/7 tables occupied, staff were inattentive. Our buffet plates stayed on the table, and we had to track someone down to order drinks. Breakfast service was better. Housekeeping also felt rushed and short on detail: we had to ask for fresh towels and got only three for four people. The pool area was a little grubby too. These are small things, but not what I'd expect from a quality hotel.

The hotel looked good, and the facilities were in good shape and working, aside from a few exceptions. What really spoiled things was the restaurant staff. At dinner, they ignored us every day and never served us drinks or told us to order at the bar. That might be fine at a fast food place, but not in a hotel with this kind of brand. We also asked for cleaning and were given only small towels.

The rooms are large, clean, and nicely designed, and the hotel is modern with friendly, helpful staff. Food was great, with an excellent range of choices. The setting felt a little cramped to me, though. It sits tightly among houses and pensions in the village, without much outdoor space, grass, or trees. The small pool and the sauna setup were the biggest drawbacks. There were no extra towels or blankets from sauna reception, no dedicated rooms for relaxing, and slippers for the sauna and wellness area weren't provided in the room. The wellness facilities felt like they were there to tick a box, without enough thought given to the design or how people would use them.
