Pensjonat Etna

Breakfast was served on the ground floor, just in front of reception, in a room that becomes a restaurant from noon onwards. It wasn't an extravagant buffet, but there was plenty of the usual food: oats, corn flakes and chocolate chips, plus a good range of cheeses and cold cuts. Fresh fruit, cake slices and bread rolls were there every day. Willa Etna sits on a low, park-like patch of land west of Szklarska's main thoroughfare, opposite Park Linowy Trollandia. That attraction struck me more as a colorful children's playground with a bit of risky downhill activity than anything else. The detached holiday home is kept so carefully that its painted floral bands and decorative wooden cutouts catch your eye straight away. It has the look of a traditional wooden mountain chalet, though the dark woodland behind it and the flowering plants on the raised ground-floor verandah and balconies make it stand apart. I was given a spacious double room on the first floor, with a lovely balcony overlooking the river and a beautifully landscaped area where guests ate, danced and spent time relaxing. I still miss sitting out on that terrace. The room felt fresh and was spotlessly clean, the furniture still smelled of wax, and the furnishings had just been replaced to suit the decor. The bathroom was heavenly, with an advanced electronic shower that took some figuring out but let me adjust the flow, temperature and spray. There were plenty of bathroom supplies. The owner seemed to handle reception throughout the day. In the five days I was there, I didn't meet anyone else. Szklarska Poreba sits at the foot of Mt Szrenica in the Karkonosze range, a popular mountain resort known for its natural scenery. Skiers come in winter and hikers in summer, and with all kinds of accommodation around, places to stay are plentiful.

Everyone on staff was very friendly and helped us with whatever we needed.

The food was just disgusting...

The Etna Guesthouse was a lovely place to stay. It's close to the center, restaurants and hiking trails, but still quiet and peaceful. Rooms were comfortable, cozy and clean, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet had plenty of variety and something tasty to pick each day. Free parking was another nice extra, and it was a great place to relax. A good choice for a mountain trip in summer or winter. Definitely recommend! 😊 Greetings from Gorzów
