Really great!

This was my third visit to Gwarek with my family, and I still find it wonderfully quiet and peaceful. It is a fair distance from the city, though in warm weather you can walk there using a nice shortcut. The beds are super comfortable, and we had no room problems. The receptionists are friendly, and the cleaning staff are kind and polite too. They brought us whatever we asked for and changed the sheets. My family and I send our warm regards to the director.

I’ve stayed at Gwarek for weekends and short breaks for about 20 years, so it’s sad to see how things seem to be going downhill. The views, pool, and indoor jacuzzi are the positives. The indoor jacuzzi was fine, and the pool is nice, though the water was cold despite being described as heated. You can still use it on hot days. The outdoor jacuzzi is free for guests, but the water had a slight odor and could use a clean or a change. Some jets didn’t work. Our room this time was bare bones: no chairs, bedside lamp, coffee mugs, hairdryer, or cordless kettle. There was one kettle in the hall for 20 rooms, screwed to a shelf so nobody could take it. The room also smelled oddly like someone had been smoking. The café is apparently open Fridays from 4 pm and on Saturdays and Sundays from noon. Having it shut during summer holidays meant no coffee, drinks, beer, or ice cream, and being told to buy things at reception felt ridiculous. The sauna is available for a fee, but 80 PLN an hour is a lot. We didn’t try the other wellness and spa facilities. Breakfast is good, though the selection seems to be shrinking.

For years, we came to Gwarek twice a year for Creatively Twisted Workshops. The rooms were fine, the reception ladies always looked after everything, and the kitchen served warm, well-seasoned food. Sadly, our last workshops there were in October. The place has been sold, and apparently they’re going to demolish it 😢
