Hotel Sofia Wrocław by Railway Station

The best thing about this hotel is its location near the Train Station, with the city center close enough to walk to. I was still somewhat disappointed when I arrived. Several hotels on that street were in a similar price range, and I chose this one, but I'm pretty sure I could have found a much better place for the same money. Service and staff were just okay-ish. I know it was my fault for arriving early, but when I asked about checking in ahead of time, the response was simply no. They could have said they'd check whether it was possible. A little more attention to how you approach a customer can go a long way.

The room I was given for me and my son was in unsatisfactory shape. The flooring was old and dirty, the furniture was worn and visibly damaged, and the textiles were outdated. This was very different from the photos on Booking.com when I made the reservation. At the reception desk, I was told that only two rooms in Hotel Sofia have been renovated, and those are the ones shown on the website. The other rooms, including ours, don't meet the advertised comfort standard. I consider that misleading and a violation of consumer rights. Dear Hotel Sofia Administration, I formally request an official explanation for publishing inaccurate information on your website, and an immediate update to the hotel's page with photos that reflect the rooms guests are typically offered. I expect a timely response and appropriate action.

The photos of the rooms bear no resemblance to what I found, just as other reviews have said. I wasn't expecting much after reading them. There was no water in the room, and nothing nearby was open at night where I could buy some. The bathroom looked very clean but smelled mouldy. Trams and trains made constant noise, so getting any rest at the Sofia felt impossible. There's no restaurant on site, which means going for a walk if you want breakfast. The WiFi password gives you a clue when the router was installed, and the connection is just as slow as you'd expect. Worst of all, I got locked in my room and couldn't get out. I had to call reception so someone could force the door open, but there was almost no phone signal and no phone in the room.

A clean room, fresh bedding, and a warm shower, all for a good price. It’s also close to the station, which made it a handy place to stay while travelling.
