Hotel Gromada Zakopane

The rooms are clean and everything else is okay, but this place is far too noisy for anyone hoping to sleep well. The booking information says complete quiet can't be guaranteed because of the location in the city. I assumed that meant traffic. Now it's almost 1 am, I've got a big hike tomorrow, and I can't sleep because music is blasting from downstairs. It's louder than some party hostels, and a really frustrating experience.

For the price, location, and included breakfast, this place is hard to beat: it's the best location you can get, the lowest rate around, and breakfast uses good quality products. The rooms are old, with a general feel of Poland in the 70s, but they're clean and tidy. The service is excellent, too. Everyone makes you feel at home and goes above and beyond for guests, which I really appreciated. This is an excellent two-star hotel and should be judged as one. In my opinion, the one-star reviews aren't fair. If you know what you're booking, it's a great option.

The location and breakfast were excellent, and the service was friendly. The room was decent and the beds were comfortable, but the WiFi was truly awful. The bathroom had no shower stall, just a curtain separating one side for the shower, and the heater dial in our room was broken, so we couldn't turn it off. I'd put it at 3.5 stars.

The smell of mold and tobacco was awful, and I had a headache within five minutes in the room. If you're sensitive to either smell, don't book here. Opening the windows didn't help as an option because the street noise was horribly loud. The outdated room didn't bother me by itself, but this place cost about 100 US dollars a night, far too much for Poland. We checked out and found much nicer accommodation for less. You can get better hotels cheaper, so take your money elsewhere.
