The beds were poor, with thin mattresses just 130 cm wide, too narrow for two people. The toilet door lock was broken, which was a major hassle for our family of five, and Wi-Fi crawled at 5 Mbps while our LTE reached 45 Mbps. There were no clear instructions for using the sauna, and nowhere public, like a garden, to sit and relax in the evening. Parking was a nightmare too, with no sufficient public spaces available. The biggest problem was construction noise right below our windows: loud work woke us at 5 AM every day, and the huge site behind the building is expected to be active for another 6-10 months. We called before the stay to check about construction and were told there wouldn’t be noise issues, which wasn’t true. Tatra Square Apartments was a terrible experience and not worth booking. Avoid it.

The main issue was parking. The listing said parking wasn’t available, and in Zakopane that really meant no parking: there are only three spots on the property, maybe two more if you’re creative and careful, and no public parking anywhere between the apartment and the center. If you’re arriving by car, I wouldn’t recommend it. The ground-floor apartment itself was spacious, nice, and well equipped, with an espresso machine, a large TV with Chromecast, and even a good sofa bed. A big construction site next door is expected to remain through the rest of the year. We were lucky there was no noisy work while we stayed, but it should be mentioned in the apartment information.

Apartment number 16 had everything we needed, and I’d highly recommend it. The location was excellent, with shops and a restaurant nearby. The building has a sauna and a parking space, though a car over 2 meters long, such as one with a roof rack, won’t fit in the underground garage.

The apartment felt like home, with thoughtful extras such as flowers, pillows and blankets, plus a well-equipped kitchen and a welcome set of Rituals gels and lotions. It’s close enough to walk to the city center, yet far enough from the bustle to stay quiet. We had free parking beneath the building and no trouble finding a spot; there’s also paid underground parking. The bedroom was spacious, with a large comfortable bed on the side away from nearby construction, and we never heard the work inside. I’d been concerned about the building site, but the owner talked it through with me and helped us find a great fit for our family with a child. Communication was excellent. The elevator was handy too. We’d happily come back.

The location was all right, but the sofa in the living room was very dirty and stained. In apartment no. 2, the bedroom had only a frame on the wall where a TV should have been, and nobody had mentioned that beforehand. The outdoor parking area fits just two or three small cars. For this price, I won’t be staying here again.
