Villa Tatrydom

A lovely, cozy villa with a nice view.

The owner pointed out the routes and explained where things were and how to get there, which made getting around easy. It takes about 15 minutes through a little forest to reach Tatra National Park, while a 10-minute walk in the other direction gets you to the road into town and the shops. The place itself is quiet and cozy, with mountain views. We really enjoyed staying here and recommend it.

I hardly ever write reviews, but honestly, this stay got to me. The house is close to the mountains, with views of Giewont, and it's peaceful, away from the cars and traffic. The cat would inspect every new car in the parking lot. We called him detective, and laughed at how he snuck up on that fox thing. We stayed a few days thinking nobody else would come, then the whole house filled up. That was quite something 👍🏻 The bathroom is the biggest problem. It's tiny and hard to move around in. Showering was fine, but to dry off after getting out I had to open the door. Brushing my teeth meant watching out for the glass shelf above, and sitting on the toilet was cramped with almost no room to move. On Saturday at 11:30 PM, someone started the first of what seemed like three or four loads of laundry. The washing machine was under or right beside our room, and it kept running until 3 AM. We came to rest and paid for a quiet stay, so that really annoyed me. Couldn't the laundry be done during the day? The room was supposed to have a mountain view, but a tree blocked it, so you could only see a little. It wasn't the end of the world, though. The host herself was fine, I have no complaints about her. The floors were clean enough that walking barefoot or in flip-flops didn't bother me, and that was a plus. When we arrived, there were two single beds in opposite corners. I asked for a double bed for two and explained I'd come with my husband, I'm not divorced, so I don't need to sleep separately 🤣. The woman said I'd requested it that way, even though I'd texted her to ask for a double. You need to find the right person to talk to. I didn't make a fuss, mistakes happen, and she moved us to a room with one bed, since it had a bed for four people. We hadn't even brought in our suitcases before the woman wanted us to settle the bill. I've never had that happen in rooms in Zakopane. You can cancel at any time or stay for two days, or less, but they want the money up front. Once you've paid, if you don't like it, apparently you just have to accept it because you won't get your money back. STUPIDITY.... That's all I wanted to write.

We paid 700 PLN for two nights, and I don't think the room was worth it. It was cramped, with filthy streaked windows, cobwebs everywhere, and bedding that looked ancient, worn, and torn. The shared kitchen also had old, battered dishes. The owners seem not to care for the place: they don't clean or invest in it, and just want to take guests' money. We were given a different room from the one I'd booked. The owner said the room shown in the photos was occupied and claimed it was the one we'd reserved. But our room was much smaller and had no mountain view, while the larger room with the beautiful view next door sat empty for two days. I took a screenshot of my booking right after making it, but the owner insisted that couldn't be right. Even with proof, nobody moved us. Very dirty and deceptive.
