Willa Cyrek

The location was the main plus. My partner and I came to Zakopane for a holiday, and at first the place seemed ideal, close to everything. But we struggled to reach the willa and it took two days to finally contact the owner, while we were still unsure whether the booking had gone through. I didn’t feel welcome during the phone conversation. There was also a 200 zloty deposit to pay to the willa by bank transfer. The room was small, the walls were thin, the mattress was uncomfortable, and the customer service was lacking. I don’t think I’d choose somewhere just for its location next time. The stress wasn’t worth it.

Getting here by train is especially convenient, and the owner was easy to communicate with. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated, and the shared kitchen had plenty of equipment. My one issue was the thin walls: you can hear everything, which made sleeping at night difficult. I still recommend the place, as you may get fellow guests who observe quiet hours and consider the other tenants.

The property itself is lovely and clean, and only a short walk from the station. But we couldn't sleep because conversations and laughter from next door carried through the thin walls late into the night. My experience with the owner was worse. I called for several days and got no answer, then texted without a reply. On the day we arrived, she finally responded and called me abusive after I politely asked for the heating to be switched on. Seriously? She then asked whether she should contact Booking.com to move me elsewhere. It came across as a cynical threat. We'd travelled by train for hours, had our luggage with us in an unfamiliar city, and arrived in the dark at around 9 p.m. The idea that I should then wander around trying to find another place was disgraceful. I'm embarrassed and shocked by her behavior. I've never come across such ignorance, cynicism, or lack of kindness, and I wouldn't wish that situation on anyone 😟

We had everything we needed in the kitchenette, and you could make dinner there if you wanted. The room had coffee, tea, sugar, cups, glasses, and a kettle; there was also a fridge, Netflix on the TV (you need your own password), spare bedding in the wardrobe, and radiators we could turn off. It was incredibly warm for us. The whole place was VERY clean, clearly someone really cleans it 😜 My husband and I stayed at Villa Cyrek for a few days. I only read the other reviews when I came to write mine, and I was surprised by the negative ones. We loved our stay and will come back. I couldn't hear conversations from the rooms next door, and the price seemed right for the quality since we booked directly with the owner. I only contacted her by text, but she replied to two questions within seconds. I didn't need to call. The location is handy, near both the train and bus stations, with restaurants close by for a bite after a long day hiking. After booking, I was told which room we'd have, and it matched the description. On arrival day I got a message saying they were expecting us, and that they'd let me know if the room became available before 4 p.m. It did, and another message gave me the access code. There's a sign asking guests to change shoes at the entrance, and plastic flip-flops are there, but using them is optional. Given what hiking shoes can look like, I understand why they ask. Some people might otherwise go up the wooden stairs in muddy shoes :( Someone said the owner wasn't nice, but I disagree. She was straightforward, perhaps busy with all the work she does.
