The views were the real standout, incredible! Our family had a great stay, and the staff were friendly and helpful everywhere we went. The resort was clean, smelled good, and had plenty of water stations for refilling bottles. We liked the location of our Bristas room, and the kids loved spotting the parrot in the lobby. There was lots for them to do each day, including collecting bracelets for the scavenger hunt. They had fun with the water park slides and the beach at Palomino Island, and Saturday night they made s’mores by the fire. We also enjoyed fish sandwiches at the restaurant beside the main pool. I only wish there had been group fitness classes. I would have liked yoga, spin, or zumba in the movement studio or somewhere outdoors.
The grounds are beautiful and the amenities are well maintained and family friendly. Restaurant service was wonderful, though the food quality didn't seem worth the high prices. Getting help with our room has been extremely difficult. We booked two queens but were given a room described to us as having a queen pull-out. It actually has a full pull-out with a mattress only 6in thick. We had to call housekeeping and visit the front desk twice before getting linens for it. Ants keep coming into the room, and our kids are uncomfortable on the small pull-out bed. We asked to move, but on check-in day we were told the hotel was booked and we'd have to wait 2 days. Two days later, we were told the same thing. I've emailed, called, and spoken with people in person, but still haven't been moved or received an apology. It's nearly impossible to reach anyone above a front desk supervisor. The room lock stopped working on the first day. Luckily, a bellman was with us and called security to get us in. We were locked out for 20 minutes. Also, you can't call ahead to valet to have your car brought around. Their phones go straight to voicemail even after we told them.
The scenery at El Conquistador Resort in Puerto Rico, with those sweeping Caribbean views, made a lasting impression on us. The hospitality and lively feel around the property added to a truly fantastic stay. We enjoyed the beautiful grounds, meeting great people, and having time to take in the view. It was the kind of place that made both relaxing and connecting with others feel special. Thanks to the team for a memorable experience. We’ll definitely be back.
I found High Tide Bar on our first night at El Conquistador Resort, and ended up stopping by often during our week-long stay. It's tucked away on an upper level, with outdoor seating overlooking the resort and a great ocean view. There’s a pool table and a small cigar selection too. Madeline and Mylee were the best part. The bartenders handled big groups efficiently, and the service was prompt and pleasant without being pushy. Their cocktails were very well made. They even made me a custom drink the first night and remembered it next time without me asking. I’ll definitely return when I'm in the area.
Palomino, off the coast, was quite lovely, but we spent about two hours a day waiting for the ferry. The queues elsewhere were just as bad. On our first day, we waited three hours for a table. The next day, after getting seated, we waited more than 45 minutes just to order. All told, we stood in line about 4hours a day during our three-night stay. We booked an ocean view through Expedia and got a parking lot view. The response was basically, “oh well, you booked on Expedia.” The hallway was kind of dirty, with visible dust caked on the baseboards. Our room was old and dated, the bathroom door was broken, and so was the toilet paper holder. Customer service throughout was consistently the worst of our lives. At 600+ a night, it felt like a huge rip-off, and the restaurant prices were insane. We had a dramatically better time after leaving the hotel and checking into the condo we rented for the rest of the week.
