Ficus Hotel

I barely slept during my one night in room 460. It’s on the hospital’s fourth floor, with the employee office and reception nearby, so phones kept ringing and loud conversations and yelling carried in. The view was of garbage on the rooftop. The bathroom was badly put together and had no door lock, the shower curtain and carpet were stained, and I even stepped on an earring on the way to bed. This barely feels like a hotel, and I suspect the hospital rooms might be cleaner. Only one staff member was rushing around. When I reported the problems, he said other guests had already told him, but there were no clean rooms to move me to. They wouldn’t adjust the rate either. Do not stay in room 460.

The parking situation is awful and difficult to navigate. Inside, the place is modern and beautiful, though only the fourth floor is the hotel and the rest is a hospital. Room 428 was probably the smallest they have, which was a letdown for our two nights. We asked for a larger room, but they said they were full even with half the floor empty. They also had no extra pillows when we asked. The room was extremely cold. At least the water was properly hot, which may matter for people staying overnight while visiting someone in the hospital.

We never even stayed, since after reading the reviews we decided to find somewhere else, but getting there was already a miserable experience. We parked by the entrance and a woman working there yelled at us about it. She first gave us the wrong directions to the garage, so we spent 20 minutes trying to find it. When we went back to ask, she was snappy and gave us completely different instructions. Wouldn’t recommend.

A clean, cheap place to sleep for a quick stop, with strong AC. I stayed after a late flight before a cruise. The rooms are converted hospital rooms on the fourth floor of the hospital complex, and you enter through the emergency Cardiovascular unit. Ask security how to get there. It wouldn’t be my pick for the location or for a stay of several days, but it did the job for one night.
