He responds quickly, and the room was okay for the price. The location feels like an exploit, though. There are two 24-hour grocery stores within walking distance, with their lights on and staff carrying on as usual during an island-wide blackout, which apparently reflects a broader systemic problem with privatization. The beaches are walkable, too.

David was especially helpful during our last-minute stay at Hotel Bolivar. He was responsive from the time we arrived and made sure we had what we needed. His local suggestions were spot on and helped us make good use of our time. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, with a charming feel and good value. It was also handy for nearby attractions and places to eat. David's attentiveness and the affordable price made the stay enjoyable, and we'd happily return or recommend it to someone after a welcoming, budget-friendly place.

The place costs $45 with AC, but it was in terrible shape, with no hot water and no soundproofing. There are plenty of Airbnb options in the same price range that seem like better value. David was friendly while arranging the reservation, but his tone changes when anything goes wrong, which I can see from his replies to other reviews. He canceled my booking at the last minute because he wasn't home and his mom didn't want to open the door. At least, that's what I was told. The family seemed dishonest and unprofessional, and I wouldn't recommend doing business with them.

The bathroom was dirty when I returned from the evening, with the previous guest's toothpaste still in the sink and old shampoo bottles with hair stuck to them. The shower jets were mostly clogged, and there was no hot water. After I fell asleep, David sent checkout instructions through Airbnb at 6 a.m. for an 11 a.m. checkout. I wanted to sleep before leaving PR, but ended up sitting on the beach angry at 6:20. At check-in around 3:10, David asked how I'd pay the extra $10 for AC. I'd booked on Airbnb and only then learned the price I'd paid didn't include it. He said he was trying to copy budget airlines to reach more people. I pointed out Spirit had filed for bankruptcy as of 12-12-24, so it might not be the best model. I asked to see the room and check the temperature first. There was a fan, so I refused the $10 out of spite. Maybe hot water was another paid add-on, since it apparently wasn't part of the amenities. This was only my second Airbnb stay. The price difference from the place I stayed the night before was small, but the rooms were drastically different. Lesson learned about reading the fine print. Later, David filed a false $10 AC claim. He couldn't give a valid reason for the dirty, run-down room, even after making me wait 10 minutes while he prepared it, and resorted to insults. Airbnb agreed the room wasn't clean and returned my money. I didn't pay the AC charge because he had no proof I'd used it. He's dishonest, and I'd stay elsewhere.
