The beds felt great, and there was fresh fruit and water in the lobby. The decor was different and interesting, and the space was beautiful, with a huge rooftop. The grill and kitchen were available for guests to use, and it seemed like a nice place for a party, which one guest had. The front desk was very helpful, giving us a tour and detailed, visual suggestions for places to see and eat nearby. Very nice.

We were pleased with our stay in the spacious one-bedroom suite, which had a full fridge, sink, and microwave. The hotel is beautifully decorated, and the location is perfect. The old plumbing means you can't flush toilet paper, so it goes in a small bin by the toilet. There isn't an elevator, so be ready to carry your bags up the stairs. The front desk isn't staffed around the clock, but there's a number to call if you need anything. We'd stay again.

The only thing I'd change about this trip is who I went with! This is a beautiful place for couples, with chic, plush beds made for snuggling and getting lost in the magic of San Juan. The building is gorgeous and awe-inspiring, with a unique history, and the guest rooms have lovely old-world charm. Ceasar, the concierge, gave impeccable service and put together an amazing night out exploring Old San Juan.

We loved the unusual decor and distinctive space, with incredible art pieces all around. The rooftop has an incredible view, and the location is right in the heart of Old San Juan. It was originally the 1st Masonic Lodge in the Americas. We're coming back!

Monastery Art Suites turned out to be a great choice for my husband and me. We wanted a boutique hotel close to everything in Old San Juan, and the stay exceeded what we expected. The room was clean and comfortable, and the short stairs were fine. Staff and management were friendly and gave us tips on good breakfasts and places to eat. The location was quiet, and we felt safe with an officer always standing guard a block away, right around the corner from the capital. Parking was hard to find, so I'd suggest renting a car on days you plan to go beyond the city. Staying at Monastery gave us a chance to get to know Old San Juan, and I wouldn't have done it any other way.
