We had our wedding at Blue Horizon Boutique Resort, and the brunch we held at the restaurant afterward was beautiful and delicious. Green Eyed Girl Weddings + Events pulled everything together wonderfully with less then 10 days to plan. E. P. Anderson Photography also did an amazing job capturing the day. Absolutely recommend!

Horses wandered around the property, which made the whole place feel a little magical. Blue Horizon Boutique Resort sits on a cliff above crashing waves, with a small private beach you can walk down to. Our individual casita room was beautiful, peaceful, and felt private. The service was wonderful too. David was hilarious, welcoming, and genuinely kind. We loved every minute and can’t wait to return.

We had a beautiful setting and a clean room, and the views were stunning. We also liked that there was nobody staying above us. A few things made the stay less comfortable: the room, number 108, had no TV, which would have been useful on rainy days, and the Wi-Fi was so unreliable that we couldn’t count on it. The room next door could see into our shower, which felt unnerving. We were there in the slow season, so I’m not sure whether staffing was reduced, but dinner service was very slow. We sat down at 7:30, ordered after 8, and didn’t get the food until 8:50.

David was especially welcoming and helpful, and having beach chairs in the room plus an umbrella he found for us was a great touch. The food was only okay, but the ocean views made up for it. We spent our anniversary in the honeymoon suite. It was spacious, though it could use some updating: the AC rattled loudly, and the bathroom grout was cracked. The views are absolutely beautiful, and we loved relaxing in the cabanas by day and at night to watch the stars. It was nice being a little away from louder, more crowded Esperanza.

The views and infinity pool beside Vieques’s south beaches are gorgeous, and we enjoyed the restaurant, which was one of the island’s best. We honeymooned here and were given a bottle of champagne. My concerns are about the way the resort is managed, especially given the price, over $500 a night. The basics felt sparse for that rate: soaps, linens, mattresses, pool cushions, towels, grounds upkeep, and general maintenance could all use more investment. No one offered to help carry our bags. They showed only one or two rooms available for our dates, but another appeared after we booked one, even though all the rooms are identical. The owners also rent Jeeps branded with the resort name. I’d avoid them because the vehicle we got was poorly maintained. When I asked to switch, they told me to ignore the low tire and engine warning lights because “all of our jeeps are like that.” I hope the owners put more into bringing the accommodations up from near-rustic condition to a quality that matches the rate.
