Think of this as a clean, well-run 1960s motel right on the Caribbean, rather than a full-service resort like the ones in the island’s center. The rooms have beautiful ocean views, and the pool deck is clean and pleasant, but there’s no food on-site and nobody at the front desk at night. The staff were polite and helpful, and beach chairs and coolers are available at no charge. It’s in a quiet, blue-collar neighborhood, a short walk from the ferry dock and a quick cab ride from the airport. Several good restaurants are within walking distance. You’ll have a longer drive to the really nice beaches on the southern shore, about 20 minutes rather than 10, but you need to drive there wherever you stay. The city beaches are walkable, though the shore right in front of the hotel is coral and seaweed, not a swimming spot. People mention that the building feels dated, and that’s fair for a 60-year-old place next to the ocean, with cracked tiles and rust. Everything in our room worked, including the air conditioning. It seems the property used to be more of a resort, but new owners now run it as a low-frills hotel on a budget.

We had a stress-free three nights here. The area was very quiet, and although there were plenty of chickens around, none were close enough to wake us. The staff were great and helpful, and we could borrow beach chairs and snorkeling gear for free. Parking was easy too. We got a poolside room, and having breakfast by the pool while looking out at the ocean was the best part of the trip. The waves were lovely to hear at night. Highly recommend this place!

Room 5 is on the lower level beside the pool, which sits by the Caribbean. Having coffee there in the morning felt surreal. Dana checked us in and shared really helpful tips on restaurants and things to do around Vieques. My wife and I both loved our stay. This will be my first choice when I’m back, and I’d suggest you consider it too.

We were very happy with BBH and our two weeks on Vieques. Room 6 had lots of space, a king bed, small fridge, and a nice private deck. It’s easy to walk into town and to our favorite restaurants, Taverna, El Plaza and the Rising Roost. We rented a jeep and checked out several beaches, then settled on a few depending on the strong winds while we were there. BBH seems like one of the island’s better hotels, and Carl and Dina were such nice hosts. Just manage expectations about the beachfront: most of the water out front is shallow reef and isn’t swimmable, though the views are lovely.

We had a clean room with a fantastic ocean view, and Deena was warm and hospitable. She took the time to chat and show us around. They also kindly let us leave our luggage there until our flight later today. The hotel is an easy 6-8 minute walk from the central town. We’ll definitely come back, and I’d highly recommend it for a stay in Vieques.
