Algarve Marriott Salgados Golf Resort & Spa

I’ve just returned from a really great stay. A beautiful beach is about a 12 minute walk away, and there’s lots of space for sunbathing with several pools. Breakfast had a good variety, and I liked trying something different from Portuguese cuisine each day. The rooms were nicely done, with very comfortable beds and lovely quality linen. A special thank you to the late night check in desk staff, Eduardo and Leonardo. I arrived and realized I’d lost my passport. They were so helpful, calling the Police and the Airport and speaking with the taxi driver until we found it and it was safely delivered back to me. Service was excellent. Highly recommend.

Breakfast was divine, especially the pastel de natas, which were 10/10. Everything was spotless, and the gym was small but had what I needed for a good workout. The pool was a bit chilly for my liking, but still nice. It’s a short 15 minute walk to the beach, which isn’t private to hotel guests. A chair and umbrella cost 20€ a day, or you can bring a towel.

Our reservation was canceled online just three weeks before the trip, leaving my family and me extremely disappointed with Marriott. The alternative they offered was nowhere near the same quality, and they gave us no meaningful help or solution. With so little time before our travel dates, we had to find another hotel ourselves and paid a premium price. That’s unacceptable. I expected much better from Marriott and will think twice before booking with them again.

The staff were excellent and clearly cared about providing good service. Breakfast was great and worth the 15€ charge. There were gluten free choices, and allergens were clearly marked throughout the buffet, which can accommodate different dietary needs. I took off a star because the hotel was heavily fragranced. The staff wanted to help but couldn’t provide fragrance-free sheets. With my chemical sensitivity, that made it hard to enjoy the holiday, and I left with a rash wherever my skin touched the sheets while I slept. I wish Marriott would take allergies into account and address this.
