The apartment is well equipped and in a good location, and Paulo was pleasant and helpful when we arrived. We booked because of all the great reviews, so the two-star rating may seem odd, but our stay was a letdown. Perhaps the winter had taken its toll. The mattress cover was an unpleasant, squeaky plastic one, the sort I’d only seen in nursing homes for incontinent pensioners, and it made for an uncomfortable bed. Still, the main reason we slept badly was the constant banging from building work in the apartment next door. Surely we should have been told about that? On the first day, we woke to a huge puddle beneath the living-room aircon. We called Paulo about it, the flat remote’s dead batteries, and the nausea-inducing rotten-fish smell from the fridge. When we got back that evening, the bucket and soggy towel were still there, the smell remained, and the batteries were still flat. I asked Paulo for an update. He said the repairs were done and claimed the fridge smelled because of prawns they’d left for us, which was absolute rubbish. The next morning there was another river of water under the unit. Maybe the bucket was meant to be the repair? I told Paulo, but he ignored us after that. He seems great when things are going well, less so when they aren’t.

Inside, the apartment is calm and peaceful, even though it sits above a loud, busy tourist strip. The place is huge, with west-facing balconies where we could catch the last light of the day, a great rooftop spa, and an underground parking spot. Nearby parking is hard to find in town, so that was especially welcome. If you need another space, there’s a car park building a four-minute walk up the hill. D Loft is clean and has everything you could think of needing while away. The welcome treats are anything but standard, and Paulo is great. You’ve got this down. Hope you keep growing.

The apartment was clean and modern, and an easy walk from restaurants and shops. The person who handed us the keys was friendly and helpful, and showed us how to use the jacuzzi, which runs 24/7. It was relaxing even in winter. We also got a generous welcome spread of wine, beer, fruit juice, water, fresh fruit and Portuguese egg tarts. Highly recommended!

The private jacuzzi was a welcome treat after hiking in the Algarve countryside, and we loved the balcony view and huge terrace where you can look at the stars at night. It’s a quiet place with parking for your car and shops and restaurants nearby. My tip: try Alfredo 😉. Thanks again for the warm welcome. We had a great few days in Albufeira, and I’d recommend this apartment.

The host’s service really made this Airbnb stand out. It’s a great spot with a rooftop hot tub chill area and a solid view over the city, plus underground parking with a private space. The location is good if you don’t mind the tourist crowds. There are plenty of nearby food options, though they were just okay.
