We had four lovely nights at the Velamar. It may not have the best kerb appeal, but once you're inside, you change your mind. The staff do everything they can for you, and there are lots of thoughtful little touches. It's very family-friendly, and breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice, including lovely fresh honey and orange juice. It was my birthday while we were away. The hotel helped book a wonderful restaurant, then had a bottle of fizz and a cake waiting for me when we got back, along with a lovely personal note. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this lovely hotel, and I'll definitely return. Thanks to all the wonderful hotel staff for making it such a lovely stay. My only negative was the barman charging 3€ for some ice, when you can buy a huge bag at the supermarket a few minutes' walk away for 1€.

The rooftop breakfast was a real highlight, with cooked and continental choices, fresh orange juice, and different teas and coffees. There’s also a little pool with a bar, and restaurants, bars, and the beach are all easy to reach on foot. Our room was spotless, with a modern bathroom, a big walk-in shower, lovely towels, shampoo and soap, plus a hair dryer, safe, and fridge. Such a lovely little hotel, and the staff were welcoming and attentive.

We found it easy to unwind here after days out sightseeing. The hotel and its surroundings were quiet, and the staff were courteous and helpful. We could walk to the beach, cafes, restaurants, and a supermarket, while the old town was a taxi ride of about 8 euros away. Breakfast was perfect for us, and we enjoyed hearing soulful fado in the lounge one evening. The place was clean and comfortable, and the staff even decorated and celebrated Halloween. A lovely part of our trip.

The hotel is a little way from the strip and old town, but an Uber is quick, and Olhos de Agua beach is about a 10-minute walk away. Being away from the busy areas made for quiet evenings and a good night's sleep. We got a thoughtful packed lunch when we had to leave at 7:15am for the airport and miss breakfast. The breakfast itself was great, especially the freshly squeezed orange juice and big piece of honeycomb. Staff were lovely and helpful, and the hotel was clean. My one small gripe: tea, coffee, and milk weren't topped up daily, and I had to go downstairs to ask. Milk wasn't in the room until I asked reception. Still, a 10 out of 10 stay, and I'd recommend it.

The team at Hotel Velamar made us feel as if we were on holiday with friends. Everyone was warm, friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and caring, and we can't wait to come back. The hotel was tidy, clean, and very well equipped. Each day started on a special note with breakfast up on the rooftop. We could walk to the beach, town, and plenty of restaurants, and Albufiera and Vilamoura were a short ride away. Thanks for making the stay so memorable, warm wishes from Sharon & Jeremy x
