Hotel PortoBay Blue Ocean

We were there for just one night, and it felt like a high-end all-inclusive resort. The scenery and views were beautiful, including the ocean sunrise from our room. It's great value, though you do pay for it. Treat yourself and go.

The grounds looked lovely after dark, with lighting that gave everything ambience and a modern feel. Staff were friendly, the rooms were clean and functional, and we loved our stay. We chose a partial sea view, so the sunset bar was right in front of our balcony. Breakfast was included and had lots of choices. The fresh orange juice was so good, and they gave me a little gift for my birthday, such a lovely touch. There were plenty of sun beds and umbrellas by the pools, and from the second-floor loungers and infinity pool you can see the ocean. The beach took about a 10-15-minute walk down a boardwalk and many stairs. Sun beds there cost 20 euros to rent. The main things to improve are the washroom ventilation and the shower drain, which was very slow and left water pooled around our feet. Still, it's a great place for a relaxing vacation.

The views of the sea and Falésia cliffs are incredible, and the sunset bar is a lovely place to catch the evening sunset. The hotel also has a great mix of pools: an inviting outdoor adult pool, a pleasant indoor pool, a heated jacuzzi and an amazing sauna. Even in November, the weather was around 21 to 25 degrees, so being by the outdoor pool was pleasant. My one-night stay at PortoBay Ocean Blue in Albufeira this November was fantastic. The room felt newly designed and modern, and the bed was super comfortable. Staff welcomed us warmly from check-in. Special thanks for Anabele! Service was top-notch. Breakfast was another highlight, with lots of choice, including fresh orange juice, great pastries and eggs done just right. Tina and Zidane were awesome. I'd definitely recommend PortoBay Ocean Blue for its lovely feel and amenities. It made for a relaxing, comfortable stay.

The spa was the biggest disappointment. The hotel's website describes it as relaxing, but it was overcrowded every day of our stay, which lasted over a week. Around 10-15 children were running around and shouting each day. What was presented as a spa felt more like a children's water park, with no chance to relax. If you're looking for a quiet, restful stay, I'd strongly recommend avoiding this hotel. There are plenty of better alternatives for peace and quiet not too far away. The rooms are acceptable for a standard four-star hotel, nothing special, and the food is average. Several waiters seemed unwell and coughed throughout service. For hygiene reasons, sick staff shouldn't be working with guests.
