Rocamar Exclusive Hotel & Spa

My husband and I stayed for 7 nights on a bed and breakfast basis. The location was perfect, with stunning beach views, and housekeeping were always friendly and helpful. They did a great job. I'd definitely stay again, but without the breakfast.

The staff were polite and welcoming, and you can see straight onto the beach, just a very short walk away. It's a quiet hotel in a peaceful location, close enough to walk to the old town but far enough from the strip that you can't hear it. I'd definitely recommend it.

The balcony was tiny, and its view was like a war zone: a smashed building covered in graffiti, wild cats and a dump site. When I asked to move, I was told it would cost 650 euro. The aircon unit also had a reused Tupperware box that guests had to empty twice a day or it would flood. The staff were rude and rolled their eyes when we asked questions, saying there was no better option. The pool isn't really a pool, just a small paddling pool, with eight sunbeds for the whole hotel. They're all in the shade and taken by 8am every day. We didn't use the balcony, pool or concierge service because they were all so poor. The hotel is close to town, but getting back means walking up very steep cobbled streets. Since the pool wasn't usable, the only other option was the beach, where sunbeds cost 20 euro a day. We paid for a 4 star adults only hotel, and were very disappointed. I'd say this is a 3 star hotel at best. Please don't waste thousands like we did.

The hotel is peaceful and relaxing, and the walk into Albufeira old town is short, though a little hilly in spots. We found lovely winding side streets and quiet bars away from the main square. Our room was bright, spacious, spotless, and stocked with everything we needed; it was cleaned daily with fresh towels and sheets, and the waterfall shower was great. Breakfast was a high quality buffet, and dinner was delicious, with three courses and two choices for each. The restaurant felt comfortable and modern, and the staff were warm, attentive, and thoughtful, even bringing the right knives for the fish and steak. The Atlantic views were amazing, and the sound of the ocean lulled us to sleep. There’s a beautiful sandy beach stretching for miles, with whitewashed buildings tucked among the rocks and the town behind them. We got back yesterday after a week here. We’ve stayed at plenty of quality hotels, but this is our favorite, and I’m usually pretty picky and critical. Paradise found. We can’t wait to return.
