It’s a peaceful place to switch off from everyday life. The Buddhist community here were all very kind, though this isn’t really a typical hostel. They rent out some spare rooms to help fund the ongoing construction of their centre.

You can spend time doing yoga or meditation, visit the Stupa, which is the only one of its kind in Portugal, and spot various birds, partridges and chicks, as well as some medicinal plants. The accommodation is good quality, breakfast is nice, and the place feels calm and has good energy.

The staff were kind from the first day through the last, and breakfast was great. It’s a comfortable, unusual place within a Buddhist retreat centre, and a good spot for deep rest and reflection. I’d recommend it to anyone wanting a break from the usual routine and everyday activities.
