D´Alcoutim Hotel

The hotel has seen better days, but its riverside position, lovely pool, and particularly helpful staff, especially Erlander, make it worth an overnight stop if you're nearby and want to stay by the water. From here you can see Spain and a castle across the Guadiana river. The town centre was lively when we got there on Saturday, with a lovely lunchtime feel, several restaurants to pick from, and some with river views.

Set on the bank of the guadiana River, the hotel is beautiful, quiet, and ideal for unwinding. It's clean, the staff are pleasant, and the price is reasonable. The centre is only 1km away. Breakfast is adequate and self-service. Sometimes you don't need a 5-star hotel in a noisy area with all the usual extras.

Lovely views and a great pool, and the rooms are nice. Just wish there were cold drinks in the room.

The staff are brilliant and clearly work hard across several jobs. The food and drinks are excellent value, and breakfast has loads of choice. Homemade cake in the morning is hard to beat! The rooms are clean and simple, with a powerful shower and much-needed air-conditioning. It's so peaceful here, like a mini Douro. There's not much happening nearby, but for a proper chance to relax, it ticks every box. The nightly price is a steal. Can't wait to come back.
