Casa Velha

Quite nice.

We booked this place for a necessary trip rather than a holiday, so we wanted somewhere affordable with decent conditions. The room itself was fine, but we regretted choosing one without an en-suite bathroom. It was described as private and sits outside the room, yet it isn't sealed all the way to the ceiling, so people in the hallway or the bathroom next door can hear everything. Having to leave the room every time was uncomfortable too, and I felt the bathroom could have been cleaner. The iron was rusty underneath and could have ruined a white shirt if I hadn't noticed. The outdoor area also looks very neglected.

I spent two nights in room 3, Areal, so this is about that room. The parking was difficult, and I had to leave the car quite far away each time, though luckily it wasn't raining. The bedding was clean and comfortable, but the pillows were much too soft for me. There were lots of old-fashioned details throughout the house, which fit the name "Casa Velha" well. The shared kitchen had a fridge, microwave, toaster, and Nespresso capsule machine, and the owners kindly left capsules and chocolates. It's not set up for cooking full meals, but works fine for breakfast or warming food. The bathroom was outside the room and small, but had everything needed, including a heater by the shower exit, a detail I haven't seen in other accommodations. The only thing that was missing...

The rooms were clean and well equipped, with air conditioning, a TV, towels, and extra toilet paper. Each room has its own bathroom and toilet. The shared kitchen has a microwave, ceramic hob, oven, fridge/freezer, toaster, kettle, and hot and cold water, so you can cook if you want. There’s also a pool and terrace outside. Overall, the rooms were good. I couldn't get an answer to my text or phone call, though, and only saw the owner when the cleaners came by. The woman on the first day was friendly, while the young man on the second day was unfriendly.
