Tagus 5 Colours Suites

There’s a lot to like here: transport is nearby, and the supermarket has a wide selection and great discounts. The kitchen and patio give you plenty of room and options for cooking, with a coffee machine, washing machine and even a dishwasher. The room had towels, soap, shower gel, an iron, hairdryer, TV, kettle and cups. The hosts were responsive and always ready to help. I’d definitely come back to Tagus 5 if I needed a place in Lisbon again. A couple of things to be prepared for: the guest house is in the basement, and even without rain the room had quite a bit of dampness. Our toilet had a pump that switched on noisily whenever we turned on the water. I hope not every room has one and that we were “suffering” for all the other guests. I wish the host had mentioned this small inconvenience in advance, since we booked in Jan 2018. We did get used to the pump over time, and it didn’t seem to cause much trouble. These issues aren’t reasons to avoid staying at Tagus 5, just surprises to expect, as with any accommodation, even one with the best ratings.

Good base for events at "Passeio Marítimo de Algés": there’s a small mall across the street, MacDonald's is a 5 minute walk away, and Algés Station is about an 8 minute walk. The event place should take no more than 20 minutes to reach on foot. The rooms are on the small side, as shown in the pictures, but should be enough for sleeping and leaving some baggage. There’s a fan in each room, and the common area has a microwave, oven, kitchenware and other things to use. Each room also has a color-marked reserved spot in the shared fridge and on the shelves. You can iron clothes too, though you’ll need to buy water for the iron. The downside is that the only access is by stairs. The shower is really only for one person, about 2 and a half palms wide and long, and raised 1-2 palms above the floor. It drains a bit slowly, so check before opening the shower door when you leave, or the bathroom floor could get soaked.

We had a warm welcome and excellent service throughout our stay. The rooms are modern, clean, lovely and well equipped, and the Wi-Fi is very strong. I can recommend the Five Colour Suites without hesitation.

The location is wonderful, with a gross market nearby, and there’s a large kitchen with all the equipment. The only issue was humidity in the room, so you have to keep ventilating it.
