At 19:30 this evening, while staying at the Castle, we decided to try the restaurant across the street despite the reviews. The menu board was out and the entrance was open. Inside, one person, perhaps the owner, was eating with the radio blaring. When I asked in English about 'jantar' (supper), he abruptly told me they were closed. We ate somewhere else. When we came back, the scene was exactly the same: lights on, door open, menu board displayed, and the radio echoing around the town square. Hmmm. Good luck!

An accident meant our full party couldn't make it, so we used two rooms. We were still charged for three.

We slept there for one night and were very pleased. The bed was beautifully made, and the mattress was good. The place has a feel of the past that is still present. Sr. Ernesto is a superman. It used to be a restaurant, but now only the guesthouse is open. We'd gladly return.

A few days after the lockdown restrictions were eased, at the beginning of May 2021, the place seemed to be closed. Still, I remember the open window on the Varanda and the pleasant music coming from it across the whole square. Such a simple gesture created a welcoming atmosphere, one we'll remember forever.

The guesthouse is amazing, but the real highlight is senhor Ernesto, an incredible man with incredible stories.
