The young man looking after the house was lovely. He explained the natural park, suggested places to eat, and was very friendly. The house was well equipped, had hot water, and sat in a wonderful setting. Some people had said the access was poor, but I didn’t find it bad. It’s a paved cobblestone road, which is common in Portugal. Great value for money.

A quiet, comfortable house with everything you need for a day or a few days with your special someone. It’s a little way from the center, and the access road isn’t the best, since only one car can pass at a time. Still, we never actually met another car coming the other way.

The accommodation wasn’t what I’d seen on Booking. The photos shown are of the lower property, not the upstairs house. That house has three bedrooms and just one bathroom, with very old, unattractive furniture throughout.

The AL is in a scenic, peaceful location, and we had the whole house to ourselves. Mr. João was attentive and gave us suggestions for places to visit. The house smelled musty, probably because it isn’t used much.
