The water pressure was good and hot, and you’re close to the town centre. Internet was slow, though. It’s a very thin building, whichever of the mixed reports about it being Portugal’s thinnest is right. That makes for a cool place to stay, but the room is small, so you pay a premium for a fashionable kind of small. The setup is interesting and the bed is quite small too. Better not drink a lot of water right before bed, or you’ll wake your neighbour.

The main thing that let me down was the lack of follow-up when I reported that the bathroom light above the sink was out. They said it would be fixed the next day, but nobody came or checked back. Things happen, I get that, but someone should follow up. Also, a pan broke when I reached for it while on a video call about the hot plate. The woman said it had just been bought. Its handle looked glued on rather than screwed in. The apartment’s idea is great, making use of a very small footprint. It’s in a working-class area near local shops and places to eat. I’m a minimalist, so the compact space itself didn’t bother me, but the kitchen was hard to use: tiny counters, full-size appliances taking up the room, very tall cabinets I couldn’t reach even at 6 feet, and a sink too narrow for my breakfast bowl to sit flat. That’s what I’d change. There were no instructions for anything. I called and video-called on WhatsApp to get help with the hot plate, then spent an hour trying things and looking up the manual and a YouTube video. Still couldn’t work it out. Funny, I wasn’t leaving Lisbon until we did. Eventually we found the lock button, which you have to hold for 3 seconds each time you turn it on. I couldn’t figure out the exhaust fan or cooking lights either. A thin metal piece you have to pull turns them on, but it just looked like part of the cabinet. An instruction booklet would help Americans like me who aren’t used to this setup. The TV was confusing too, with two remotes. One gave me everything in Portuguese, but I eventually used the second to watch Netflix in English. I like the concept, and there are things they could improve. Until next time, thanks! 😎
