Quinta São José do Barrilario

The food was excellent from breakfast through dinner, and the service was great throughout. The rooms are beautiful and very clean, with lovely views all around. I could sit on the veranda and admire the quiet scenery for ages. Quinta Sao José do Barrilario is stunning, with a full spa, an amazing restaurant and bar, and beautiful grounds and landscaping for hikes. If you're after a peaceful, beautiful getaway, this is the place. I'll definitely go back.

We celebrated our wedding anniversary here, and the staff went above and beyond to make it unforgettable. We enjoyed excellent wine, with special thanks to the sommelier, and had a relaxing time at the spa. The thoughtful gifts and compliments from the hotel were a lovely surprise. The cuisine was fantastic. Every dish we ordered was beautifully presented and tasted exceptional, and the chef deserves special thanks and respect. The hotel itself has stunning views, elegant, cozy rooms, and an incredibly friendly, attentive team. I couldn't be happier with our stay, and I'll happily recommend it to friends and acquaintances. I'll definitely return. If you're looking for peace, relaxation, and real quality, this is the place.

The location and views are good, but that's where the five-star feel ended for me. There was no gym, so I had to drive to Peso da Régua to train. The spa was small and needed to be booked, and it was already full when we tried. The outdoor pool had nice views but was closed. Breakfast came with packaged orange juice in a region like the Douro, which was unbelievable. There was no hair conditioner in the room either. First and last time here.

Breakfast was delicious and varied, and the buffet dinners at the events were great too. Our room was quiet and very comfortable, just right for unwinding after a long day. Service stayed friendly, attentive, and on point throughout our stay. I'm not keen on glass doors in the bathroom and shower, but that's a small thing. The resident dog could use a little manners training, though honestly it gave the place some extra character. We'd happily stay again and highly recommend it.
