A great house in lovely surroundings, perfect for relaxing and exploring the area.

A couple of things took some getting used to: the double beds have thin mattresses, so they’re quite hard, and dogs in the countryside bark loudly at night. If you like a hard bed, the mattress may suit you better than it did me. We spent a few days here with friends and felt very comfortable. The house is nicely furnished and has everything you need, right in the Portuguese mountains. The large pool with its diving board and the whirlpool deserve a special mention.

The owner is incredibly friendly. The house is in very good condition, with tasteful rustic decor. There’s a generous lounge, pool, barbecue, and plenty of indoor and outdoor dining space. It’s ideal for a big family, and there was even Netflix.

The garden was lovely, and the staff were so friendly. The restoration is beautiful, too, with a spacious kitchen that has everything you need. It’s a really distinctive town.
