Casa Da Moira

The rooms are spacious and cozy, and the shared rooms are lovely too. When we mentioned our 5 a.m. departure for COVID tests in Lisbon, our hosts had breakfast ready for us. That kindness says a lot about the hospitality here. We felt like family from the moment we arrived, even though we don't speak Portuguese. The owners welcomed us with wine on their patio, with olive groves spread out below. Dinner on our first night was delicious: wine and cheese to start, then pork cheeks and grilled beef. The next evening, the owner arranged a restaurant booking in town for us, and it was wonderful. I'd happily recommend staying here in the Alentejo region.

In this quiet little village, the country house feels beautiful and peaceful. The bedrooms are clean, roomy, and stylish, with very comfortable beds. They also provide everything for a cozy fire in the suite, bathrobes included. Breakfast was phenomenal, and you can see the care in how everything is laid out.

Avis is a quiet, typical village, and there are some really good nearby restaurants the owners recommended. The room decor goes on and on, and our room had a private fireplace that was just wow. We loved the comfort food, too. The owners were so lovely and made us feel like part of the family. The atmosphere was relaxing, with no silly rules, it felt like anything was possible. I went in with high expectations after friends told me about Casa da Moira, and it still exceeded them. The people there make you feel at home, like you're with family. The pool is a lovely place to unwind, with one of the best views I've seen. Make sure you visit.
