The owner is kind and helpful, and the old house feels cozy and beautiful, though it could use a few repairs. Rooms are simple but comfortable and clean. The location is right in the heart of the city, which is hard to beat. The main issue was the other guests. Some were noisy, left things dirty after using them, or spent too long in the bathroom. I understand the homely feel may make people act as if it’s their own place, but there still needs to be some respect for others. Perhaps the rules could be enforced more, or they could have more cleaning staff or bathrooms to help deal with these problems. Even with that, it’s a very good place. I recommend it and would stay again if I visit Braga.
Really nice!
The rooms were cold, with no heater. The windows had no protection from the wind, and one pane was broken, so the glass and curtains didn’t keep it out. The bathroom only had a bathtub.
The hosts were relaxed and easy to chat with, and the receptionist and staff welcomed me warmly. The kitchen is large, with two gas burners, a microwave, kettle, food cupboard, and two fridges. My room had four bunk beds plus a private area, a bathroom, and furniture for bags or clothes. The wooden bed was comfortable, with sheets and a blanket, and there was a power socket beside each bed. The window looked out over the center with a spectacular view. It’s right in the heart of Braga, close to the cathedral and other sights, bars, restaurants, supermarkets, and ice cream shops. The price was very cheap for such a central spot. The bathroom in the room was small but had a sink and toilet, and there were more bathrooms outside the rooms, some with showers. Check-in is from 2:00 pm to 12:00 AM, and check-out is by 10:00 AM. I recommend it, you won’t regret it.
The one positive was how kind and friendly the receptionist was. The hostel’s exact location is listed incorrectly, and they charge an extra cleaning fee that isn’t shown on Booking.com, which is illegal. The rooms weren’t aired out daily, so they had a strong smell. The bathrooms had leaks and heavy dampness. It didn’t feel like a hostel, since many guests seemed to live in the rooms permanently.
