The bedroom was comfortable and attractive, with old stone walls, but breakfast only starts at 08.00. I need to leave for work soon after that, so I'd have to rush through it. Another hassle, and I won't be back. Getting there by car was a real problem. The hotel is very central, but cars can't reach it and there's no car park. I left my car badly parked and blocking traffic just to ask where I could leave it. Reception said there was an arrangement with a car park called 'Cruza da Pedra'. I asked her to write the name down, but she only repeated it more slowly. It doesn't show up on Google Maps. A QR code with directions on Google or Waze would be simple to provide. Instead, I drove around waiting for a nearby space, then had to download an app to pay because the machines only take coins. I carried my suitcases more than 100 metres to the hotel. Reception wasn't helpful, and the whole thing was extremely inconvenient.

My room on the 3rd floor was a double with a terrace, nicely renovated and with a good bathroom and strong water pressure. The staff were friendly, breakfast was good, and the location was excellent. The room was very compact, though, with no room even for luggage. Apart from that, I'd stay here again.

The staff made this feel like a home away from home. They were welcoming and made the place stand out for us, even though it's not the fanciest hotel. Joseph and everyone at Porta Nova gave us a great experience, and I'll stop by to say hello next time I'm in the area. Our room had a great view, a comfortable bed and pillows, and a great shower. The hotel sits at the start of the city center, with plenty of different food options nearby. We also ate at the hotel's restaurant several evenings and loved the food. The lobby fireplace and relaxing atmosphere made it nice to have a drink there at night. You can't go wrong staying here.

The rooms were clean and well equipped, with comfortable beds. The bathroom was on the small side, but cleverly fitted into the space and had a modern design. Breakfast was very complete, and it was good value for money. The location is perfect and the staff were friendly and helpful. Well recommended!

We didn't stay at the hotel, but had a great lunch there. The steak was just right, juicy and red. The dessert deserves a mention too: Pudim Abade de Priscos, a local specialty. It contains bacon and a lot of egg yolks, but you wouldn't guess from the taste. Delicious and well worth trying.
