I ended up sleeping in the woods on my first night because the doors are locked at 11pm and I arrived at midnight. The following night, I was told off for socialising with friends after 11pm. The night after that, I asked whether I could have a key or at least have the front door left open, and they kicked me out of the hotel. Don’t stay here. It’s the worst place in the world to stay.

The low price is about the only upside. There was rubbish on the floor, and the hot water barely worked, so getting a hot shower was basically impossible. The sheets and pillows felt damp, and towels weren’t provided unless you asked.

During our three-week walk through Portugal, this was the most expensive and worst room we stayed in. It wasn’t clean, and the furniture was old.

That shower looked so bad it made me think I might catch athlete’s foot just from looking at it. It reminded me of those nights when Lancashire Police locked me up as a younger man. At least the police station gave me tea and breakfast.

It’s fairly priced, but very bare bones. There wasn’t even a kettle for coffee, and the facilities are lacking.
