Eco Ljmonade Hostel

I left after one night, although I’d booked four. I’d chosen Eco Ljmonade for the social atmosphere, but the place was almost empty while I was there, and most of the staff barely tried to talk to me or get to know me. Vania was sweet, though. I started feeling depressed after a day and decided to go. The building itself is very nice, but the living and dining rooms felt oppressive, with gloomy paint and poor lighting. They didn’t look as bright and airy as the proprietor’s photos. The sheets didn’t smell clean or fresh either. Apparently the bathtubs were meant for showers only, though eventually they gave me a plug so I could take a bath. Breakfast was just a basic spread, nothing special. Staff should make more effort to welcome guests, even when they’re busy.

The bathroom was nice, and the room was clean. We stayed one night and the self check-in and check-out were easy. Street sounds came through a little since the windows aren’t very soundproof.

I spent a month volunteering here and came away really grateful for the experience. I met new people and picked up a lot of skills. It’s a calm, sweet hostel that feels family friendly, with lovely staff and a nice atmosphere. It’s clean, easy to get to, and close to both the beach and the city center. I’d definitely recommend it.

A family emergency meant I had to cancel, even though my booking wasn’t eligible for free cancellation. They understood and kindly worked out a solution for me. I’m very grateful, and hope I can stay there soon. Special thanks to Mariana and Natalia for helping me.
