Hotel Baia

We sat outside on a very hot July day for the view and a bit of a breeze. A staff member politely told us we couldn't stay unless we ordered food, though we'd only meant to get drinks and a small snack. Another person kindly stepped in and took care of us. I wish we'd asked her name so we could thank her properly. The view was lovely, and the snacks were good. (July 2025)

It was a little tricky to find the hotel's front entrance. The private underground parking was much appreciated, though, like most places in Portugal, the spaces suit smaller cars better. Our room was very clean, the beds were comfortable, and the little electric kettle was just right for making tea in the morning.

Hotel Baía made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived in beautiful, peaceful Cascais. João greeted us at check-in with such warmth, and when we got to the room there was a lovely marina view and a pastel de nata waiting as a surprise. Such a thoughtful touch. We were right by the marina, with coastal viewpoints, lovely shops, restaurants, and the iconic Santini ice cream shop just steps away. The location couldn't be better. The hotel has its own restaurant, and the complimentary gourmet breakfast each morning had more variety and quality than we expected. After checkout, they let us leave our luggage safely so we could spend a few more hours exploring, which we really appreciated. Laura made checkout friendly and easy. A heartfelt thanks to João for looking after our bags while we wandered, and to the whole Hotel Baía team for a comfortable, welcoming, memorable stay. We usually don't complain much, but this stay was a big disappointment. We arrived to find the pool closed, and nobody had told us when we booked. The rooms have no soundproofing, the beds are very hard and uncomfortable, and the bathroom has only the bare minimum of amenities. Sorry if that sounds harsh.
