Ljmonade Hostel

The location in Cascais is good, the kitchen was very clean, and André at reception was at least a little supportive. Still, I can’t recommend this hostel. I asked specific questions before booking, but what I found was very different from what I’d been told. There wasn’t a community or surfer vibe, so I wouldn’t choose it as a solo traveler. There’s one combined toilet and shower upstairs, plus another bathroom by reception, and sometimes there was a queue. There was no bread on my first day, and the schedule promised free pancakes on day two, but those weren’t provided either. The person in the bed next to mine snored horribly, though that wasn’t the hostel’s fault. I asked for a refund so I could leave early because the conditions weren’t what I’d been told, but was told that wasn’t possible.

It’s a friendly place with nice rooms, a kitchen and an outdoor area for sitting and relaxing. The neighborhood is quiet, and you’re only minutes from the Paula Rego gallery, a large park and lots of little restaurants tucked through the streets.

A great little hostel with a lovely atmosphere and a clean shared kitchen and communal space. It’s away from the main town, but an easy walk gets you to the center, train station, marina and beaches.

I felt very safe here, and the staff were welcoming. The rooms are comfortable. We had a private room, with one bathroom, one shower and one toilet, shared between three private rooms. Sometimes we had to wait, but there were other bathrooms elsewhere in the hostel. It’s an amazing place, and I’d stay again!
