We used to make this our favourite place for a few days each summer, but this summer all the personal touches that made us feel special had disappeared. The lovely menu is now small and basic, the poolside sunbeds are gone, and the luxurious towels have been replaced with dry, scratchy linen. The hotel has lost its personality. We learned during our stay that there are new owners. I hope they find their way, but unfortunately we won’t be back.

The rooms are clean and new, with comfortable beds, but the insulation is shocking. We had to leave the air conditioning blasting all night to keep warm, and condensation built up throughout the room. The property is badly maintained, and there’s very little service. Reception is only open a few hours a day and couldn’t be reached outside those hours, despite being told we could call. One of our rooms had a strong, unpleasant smell. Staff said they knew there were problems with it. One person thought it was sewage, but to me it smelled more like cockroaches, though I didn’t see any. They said they’d send someone, but all they did was spray a little air freshener, which didn’t help. Breakfast had very few options, and the room was freezing and unwelcoming. During the short breakfast period, the cleaner was mopping the floors, which added to the atmosphere. The outside area is completely neglected, and to reach your room you have to pass the hotel’s washing lines where they dry towels and other things. Definitely not somewhere for a holiday.

We’ve come here every summer for four years, and it used to feel like our own little escape, familiar as sunscreen and long sunsets. But the place has changed since new owners took over a few months ago. The service is still kind and attentive, yet so many small things that made it feel like ours have disappeared. The menu used to have variety and surprises. Now it’s a single page that never changes, with no fresh fish or salads, and none of the unexpected flavors we looked forward to. The warm cookies and handwritten note that greeted us on arrival are gone too. Those little gestures made it feel as if someone had been expecting us. The pool cabanas where we spent lazy afternoons reading in the shade have vanished. The whole place feels quieter, but not in a peaceful way. It leaves you wondering whether everyone else noticed the changes too. We’re grateful for the memories, but it doesn’t feel the same, and next summer we’ll look for somewhere new that still holds on to the little things that make a place unforgettable.

There’s plenty to enjoy at Campo do Rosmaninho. We borrowed the hotel bikes to explore the surroundings, and the padel courts were a great extra. It’s definitely a place to relax. The staff were welcoming and always ready to help, and our spacious, well-designed room came with a little treat on arrival. The restaurant felt warm and inviting, and both dinner and breakfast were very good, with a good range and quality. We had a fabulous weekend.

We stayed one night and had a very nice, spacious room. Breakfast was good, the staff excellent, and parking was easy. I’d like to come back in summer and enjoy the huge pool.
