The quiet villas are what keep drawing us back to Monte da Quinta. They make it so easy to switch off and unwind, and Castro Verde is a well-kept, peaceful town with the supermarkets and restaurants you need. We’ve lost count of our visits. Missing even one year feels like we’ve missed out. There’s plenty to explore nearby, too. Some of our favourites are a fresh fish barbecue on the beach in Milfontes and a leisurely lunch high above Monsaraz, with lakes and open land stretching into the distance. The place never disappoints. We’ve already booked our next stay for October. It’s about 45 minutes from the Algarve, and if your timing’s right, you might catch the market in town.
