What makes Encostas da Torre feel so welcoming is the friendly, helpful service, along with the peaceful setting. This rural stay in Terras de Bouro has a stone-built property that keeps its rustic charm while offering modern comforts, with well-equipped rooms and bungalows. There are gardens to wander through, an outdoor pool, a sports field, and a breakfast room with a self-serve spread from 8:30 to 10:00 and plenty to choose from. It’s just a few kilometres from Peneda-Gerês National Park, so trails, rivers, lagoons, waterfalls, and striking scenery are close by. A calm place to unwind while exploring Gerês.

The pool was good, and the bungalows were comfortable. It’s a very quiet, peaceful rural place. Breakfast, though, was very basic.

The lady who looked after us was simply fantastic, attentive to guests and suggesting wonderful places to visit. Add the lovely family atmosphere, a good breakfast, magnificent views, and all that peace and quiet, and it’s the kind of place that makes you want to come back. Hard to match.

Getting there was an adventure, but once we arrived it was great for anyone after a bit of peace in the countryside. The staff were super friendly. Five-star stay for me, though I do wish breakfast had been better, I’d give that a four.
