The view is fantastic and everything else was good. But in summer, the lack of proper air conditioning was brutal. There wasn’t even a ventilation fan or anything, and the room reached 27-28C. Think it over before booking in summer.

The views from our room and the patio were beautiful, and the pool was just right for cooling off in the heat. The food was delicious and made with love. I visited with my two sisters, and our stay was amazing. Juan and the other young man on staff were so sweet and kept going out of their way to help. We really felt looked after like family. After we drove away, the car broke down and we had to leave it by the side of the road. We walked back to Quinta Alto Do Rio, where Juan greeted us, surprised to see us, and helped us talk to the rental car company. He drove us back to our car, knowing a taxi and tow truck were coming, and gave us his personal number in case anything went wrong. I can’t say enough. Visit and take in all the beauty here. It won’t disappoint.

It felt like home, and the whole experience was great. Paula was always there to help with anything we needed, with such kindness and care. I’m excited to return. It was even better than the photos!

As Canadians, we found the road up to the inn very narrow and tricky to drive, but the reward at the end was absolutely worth it. We enjoyed wonderful hikes and walks nearby instead of driving around. This place is a 15 out of 10! They make a real effort to be eco-friendly and sustainable. Our room was spotless, and the beds and pillows were very comfortable. The hidden gems are Juan Diego and Juan Camilo. Juan Diego handles reception, organizes tours, does all the cooking, and takes on plenty of other jobs. Juan Camilo is his right hand man and an amazing server. We ate every meal here during our 3-day stay. The dinner menu changes daily, with two choices each for appetizers, mains, and desserts. Everything was delicious, carefully prepared, and served. We felt like we were eating in a 5-star restaurant. They took care of everything we needed, and it seemed there was always something delicious available for most of the day.

The views are amazing and the staff are lovely and friendly. Getting to the hotel takes some nerve, but I’d recommend staying here.
